In the first quarter of 2023, the Maps and Navigation category on Android in Ghana showcased interesting trends across the top five apps. Data from Sensor Tower provides insights into their performance, highlighting fluctuations in weekly downloads and active users.

Yango — different from a taxi had a notable start with weekly downloads peaking at approximately 59.9K in late January. However, there was a gradual decline in downloads, tapering off to around 9.6K by the end of March. The app also saw a downward trend in weekly active users, starting from 132.8K at the beginning of the quarter and ending at 106.1K.

Bolt: Request a Ride displayed a more stable performance. Weekly downloads hovered around the 13-21K range, peaking at 21.4K in the final week of December. Active users demonstrated consistency, fluctuating slightly but maintaining an average of around 650K throughout the quarter.

Yango Maps experienced a significant drop in weekly downloads from an initial 25K in late December to approximately 9.4K by the end of March. Despite this, its active users remained relatively steady, averaging around 40K, with minor fluctuations throughout the quarter.

Yango Lite: light taxi app showed a varied download pattern, starting at 7.9K in late December and peaking at 14.5K by the end of January. Downloads eventually decreased to around 5.8K by the end of March. The number of active users grew from 38K in late December to a peak of 49K at the end of January, before stabilizing around the 40K mark.

Yango Pro (Taximeter)—driver had a more volatile download pattern, with a high of 7K in late January and a significant drop to just 52 downloads by the end of March. Active users mirrored this volatility, starting at 15.4K in late December, peaking at 24.4K in early March, and then dropping to 9.4K by the end of the quarter.
